After two years of anti-dumping duties on leather shoes and children's shoes exported to the EU, the European Commission has announced that it will temporarily maintain anti-dumping measures against China due to the launching of the sunset review process.

This means that Chinese shoe manufacturers will also receive high export tax rates of 12 to 15 months.

In order to protect the interests of footwear enterprises in some EU countries, the European Union formally announced from October 7, 2006 that 16.5% of anti-dumping duties were levied on leather shoes and children's shoes imported from China for a period of two years, and 10% anti-dumping duties on Vietnamese leather shoes will expire this month.

This week, a spokesman for the European Trade Commissioner Mandelson said that the EU is now launching anti-dumping review procedures, and will continue to levy anti-dumping duties on China's imports of leather shoes before the review is completed.

As a rule, the review process will last for 12 to 15 months.

In fact, the EU imposed anti-dumping restrictions on the export of leather shoes in China, which lacked sufficient legal and factual basis. This measure has caused great controversy within the European Union.

In the final ruling, the European Commission took account of the strong internal opposition to change the anti-dumping measures from five years to two years. This measure should be terminated after two years.

"The Chinese side regrets the EU's anti-dumping investigation on Chinese leather shoes, and the Chinese government opposes the European side's extension of the anti-dumping measure in any form."

Ministry of Commerce spokesman said on 3, the EU footwear industry after a long-term quota protection, coupled with anti-dumping measures in the past two years, the industry has completed structural adjustment.

At present, the EU industry has good indicators and strong external exports, indicating that the EU industry is competitive and there is no need for further protection.

In, the AOKANG shoe group, which led the team to appeal to the European Union in the anti-dumping rulings two years ago, is also actively preparing materials to prepare for further defense.

According to a AOKANG spokesman, AOKANG, Dongyi, Tamar and other leading enterprises are jointly preparing for the war to re apply for market economic status to the EU, in order to change the outcome of the final decision.

Data show that Wenzhou footwear enterprises suffered serious damage in the EU's anti-dumping measures in the past two years.

In the 1-6 month of this year, the export of Wenzhou shoes to the European Union increased by only 14.4%, a sharp decline compared with the same period last year.
