According to the report of News and Newspaper Abstracts of Voice of China at 06:41, the head of the National Development and Reform Commission stressed that the excessive growth of power consumption in the "two high" industries should be curbed as summer approaches.

From January to April this year, the power consumption of the whole society increased by 23.9% year on year, but the power consumption of heavy industry increased by 30%, and the driving force for the growth of power consumption of the whole society reached 73.7%. Liu Tienan, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission, stressed that the total amount of energy demand should be controlled in areas where the "two high" industries are concentrated.

Liu Tienan: In regions with high energy consumption, high emission industries and large scale, as well as regions with arduous tasks of energy conservation and emission reduction during the 11th Five Year Plan, we should establish and improve the reverse force mechanism, effectively change the past situation of blindly opening up to supply coal and electricity, and ensure timeliness.

Liu Tienan requested that the fuel supply should be actively organized. All localities should not restrict the export of coal from the province in any form. The provinces that restrict the export of coal from the province will be criticized in a circular. At the same time, the whole society should enhance the scientific, rational and economical awareness of electricity use.

Liu Tienan: It is necessary to strengthen the management of urban lighting, strictly control the energy consumption of public facilities and decorative landscape lighting of large buildings, and set the air conditioning temperature at no less than 26 ℃ in summer.

It is estimated that the national temperature may be higher this summer. During the peak summer, the maximum daily power consumption of the country may exceed 13.5 billion kWh, more than 1.3 billion kWh more than the peak last year. Liu Tienan said that it is expected that the national power supply and demand will be generally balanced and partially tight this summer.

Liu Tienan: The supply and demand situation in the northwest and northeast is relatively loose, the balance in central China is generally balanced, and the balance in North China, East China and South China is tight. There is a possibility of power limitation during peak hours, and the problems in Hebei, Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Sichuan, Chongqing and other places are relatively prominent.
